A TALENTED gymnast from Brightlingsea won bronze in a national competition. 

Harvey Bell, 20, competed in the 2023 Jaffa Trampoline, DMT and Tumbling British Championships, scoring third place. 

"It still does not feel real. I went into the competition to get a top 15 and then coming out with a bronze medal, it is a dream come true.", said Harvey

His training of the past nine years has paid off and he is looking to "stay in competing for a good number of years".

The competition was held at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham, where Harvey prevailed amongst 24 competitors in the senior category.

Harvey has been praised as a role model for younger gymnasts at the Colchester School of Gymnasts and friends and fans congratulated him for his outstanding achievement. 

A spokesperson of Colchester School of Gymnasts said: “We are very proud of Harvey.  

“He has been training will us for 9 years now and this was his second British Championships.  

“He trains with us 3 times a week and has also been training twice per week at Recoil trampoline club in Brentwood.  

“This has been great for him to have other coaches input into his training and also increase his training hours. “
