CLACTON secured a 7-5 victory against Rayleigh Rascals, in the Essex Men's Superleague.

It was their third successive match to be decided by the last game.

Clacton recorded a team average of 25.57 and 73 100+ scores.

They are sitting second in the team tons table, just four behind leaders Springfield.

Wayne Bloomfield (30.83) and partner Nic Groves (22.78, comb 26.81) lost the opening game against Dave Solly (29.43) and Lennie Holmes (21.28, comb 25.67).

Adrian Genery (18.38) and Keith Farthing (22.50, comb 20.44) missed doubles as they lost to Michael Pinnington (21.83) and Steve Kiamil (19.88, comb 20.85).

Andrew Currivan (27.00) and James Wilson (18.10, comb 22.75) pulled one back for Clacton with a victory against Nicholas Benson (17.92) and Gary Barber (17.90, comb 17.91).

The last pairs game saw Clacton draw level as the impressive Curtis Hammond (35.83) and Coen Wiekamp (23.73, comb 30.33) won in 33 darts against Ben Adams (22.53) and Phil Daldry (19.00, comb 20.77).

Hammond checked out on 113 and left the Rayleigh pair on 378.

In the first singles game, Wilson (20.27) lost 3-1 against Lewis Gilson (19.98).

Hammond (31.31) levelled the match with a masterclass display as he defeated former Essex county man Adams (28.07) 3-0 with legs of 17, 15 and 16 darts.

Hammond claimed his side's man-of-the-match and also the highest average for the week in the Essex Superleague.

Groves (23.87) lost 3-1 to Rascals' man-of-the-match Kiamil (26.33) as Rayleigh took a 4-3 lead.

However, Genery (25.67) dug in and produced a superb performance at a pivotal moment in the match.

He rounded off a 3-2 victory with a 16-dart leg against Essex county man Holmes (26.56).

Currivan (27.83) was in fine form as his impressive start to the season continues.

He ran out a 3-0 victor with legs of 18, 17 and 19 darts, including a 101 finish in the first leg, against Aaron Searle (16.85).

Wiekamp (27.89) has hit the ground running since making his return to the Superleague and he produced another brilliant display, despite going 1-0 down against Pinnington (24.42).

He hit straight back, winning the next three legs in 21, 16 and 16 darts for a 3-1 victory.

Farthing (23.81) hit another two maximum 180s in his singles game but could only rue missed doubles as he had chances to win his game against Daldry (22.51) and ended up losing 3-2.

With the match hinging on the last game for the third week running, all Clacton’s hopes and expectations were in the hands of Bloomfield (25.47).

He duly obliged with a solid display against former Essex team-mate Solly (21.46).

Bloomfield started the game with a 180 and won the first leg with a brilliant 108 finish as he raced to a 3-0 victory.
