FORMER Clacton swimmer Jarrod Bradfield was in impressive form while competing for the Army.

Bradfield, who serves with the Coldstream Guards, booked his place at a recent inter-service competition after impressing at a training camp in Cyprus.

He and his fellow candidates competed for limited places and after being picked to go forward, following a gruelling fortnight of training, he went on to enjoy success at the competition at RAF Cranwell.

It was his first competitive swim for two years and he finished sixth in both the 100 metres freestyle, clocking 57.06 seconds, and 200m freestyle (two minutes and five seconds).

He was also part of the third-placed 6x50m freestyle relay team.

Bradfield, part of the Coldstream Guards' number seven company, was delighted with his times as he went straight into the competition on the back of three months' Trooping the Colour training.

The Coldstream Guards are now putting him on a full swimming programme, which involves training and competing for the forces home and abroad.
