FRINTON'S mixed D team are the early pace-setters in Colchester and District League division five, having won a tight home game against Spring Lane.
It turned out to be a closely-fought battle.
Lee Milner and Elaine-Kearle Aldread paired up to win two games, 8-2, 8-7, 6-8, with Matt and Yvonne Gough also winning two games, 8-7, 8-3, 2-8.
Richard Baldwin and Jane Noah had scores of 0-8, 2-8, 8-4, making the final score 5-4.
Frinton captain Matt Gough said: "Spring Lane were a great team and we had some epic sets - one lasted over an hour.
"They were lovely people and a joy to play.
"I was so proud of each member of my team, as everyone had to fight hard to get through some really difficult matches."
Frinton retain top spot in the division, at this early stage of the season.
