CLACTON brothers Aaron and Ryan Smyth are celebrating a season of success between the posts.

The young goalkeepers have both received awards for their performances.

Aaron played for FC Clacton’s under-16s and, after winning the Seasiders Cup, helped his team go on to win both the A League title and League Cup.

Eleven-year-old Ryan, meanwhile, won the junior “safehands” trophy for the junior section at the Carl Pentney Keeper Academy. Both brothers train at the academy, based in Colchester.

And in addition to his club success, Aaron, like his sibling, also received an award after winning the top senior goalkeeper prize.

He is now going on to play senior football with FC Clacton’s under-18s and will also be attending the Colne Football College, in Brightlingsea.

Ryan hopes to join a team, having not had one last season.
