CLACTON Rugby Club’s second team – the Kestrels – have received their fixtures for the 2015/16 season.

The team play in the Eastern Counties League and, like last season, they will be in division three south under the captaincy of Dan Land.

Opponents they have lost from the last campaign are Colchester thirds and Sudbury twos, who have both been promoted, and Woodbridge twos, who have been relegated.

Taking their place will be Brightlingsea, who were relegated from division two, and Colchester fourths and Essex University, both promoted from division four.

In addition, it has been necessary to juggle with the fixture list to ensure both Clacton teams are not at home on the same day.

The loss of the local authority changing facilities at Clay Hall have meant the once popular double- headers, when both teams played at home at the same time, are no longer feasible.

The full list of league fixtures is: September 19 - Thurston 2 (away); September 26 - Mersea Island 2 (away); October 3 - Halstead Templars (away); October 10 - Essex University (away); October 17 - Brightlingsea (home); November 7 - Stowmarket 3 (away); November 21 - Colchester 4 (away); December 5 - Harwich 2 (home); December 19 - Mersea Island 2 (home); January 16 - Halstead Templars (home); January 23 - Essex University (home); January 30 - Brightlingsea (away); February 13 - Stowmarket 3 (home); March 5 - Colchester 4 (home); March 19 - Harwich 2 (away); April 2 - Thurston 2 (home).

It is also hoped some blank Saturdays will be filled with friendly fixtures.

New players are always welcome, whatever their ability, and anyone interested should either speak to the captain on 07950 034 305, or come along to the clubhouse in Valley Road when pre-season training starts in July.
