FC CLACTON are in superb form at both ends of the pitch - something they will hope to continue in tonight’s trip to Whitton United.

The Seasiders have won their last four games and continued their purple patch with a 3-1 victory at Brantham Athletic on Saturday.

Their goal-scorers may be grabbing most of the headlines, with the likes of Aaron Condon and Terry Rymer finding the net on regular intervals for Glenn Eldridge’s side.

But perhaps just as impressive is their miserly defensive form.

Clacton have only conceded twice in those four matches - once from the penalty spot and once following an unfortunate own goal by Aaron Reid.

The latter came against Brantham on Saturday.

Shaun Webb’s hooked effort bounced off the bar, hit the goalkeeper on the back of the head and went in.

“It was unlucky, but just one of those things,” said former Ipswich Wanderers keeper Reid.

“There wasn’t anything I could do about it and it was a pity, because it would have been nice to keep another clean sheet.

“Overall it’s going really well for me at the moment and I’m enjoying my football.

“As a unit we’ve looked a lot tighter since the Felixstowe game (which Clacton lost 5-1).

“Obviously we’ve only conceded twice since then.

“I’m proud of our recent record and just want to keep playing.

“The spirit in the camp is so good, as everyone could see from the way we celebrated at the weekend, and you know the boys are going to back you all the way.”
