HUNDREDS of motorcycles from all over the country are expected to roll into Clacton today to pay their final respects to a legend in the biker community.

Christopher 'Wally' Walton lost his battle against cancer on December 28.

He was 68.

Dad-of-seven Wally had spent all his life in Clacton, but was well-known at biker rallies across the country.

Daughter-in-law Charlotte Hornby said: "Once you met him, you never forgot him.

"He inspired a lot of people. He was always there when you needed someone - everyone turned to him.

"He would to anything for anyone and treated his friends like family.

"He was just a great guy to know and very popular."

Up to 500 motorbikes are expected at today's funeral service.

"It would have meant the world to him," said Charlotte.

Wally, who lived in Weeley, had worked as a carpenter and on Clacton Pier.

He also launched the Fossils biker cafe and shop on St Osyth Road, and ran the family-friendly We Can't Dance motorcycle club, riding a 1400 custom 'chop'.

The convoy will escort a special motorcycle hearse to Weeley Crematorium for this afternoon's service.
