VILLAGERS are celebrating after controversial plans for 136 homes in Little Clacton were refused by planners.
Blueprints for 165 new homes on 16 acres of farmland, off The Street, caused uproar earlier this year and led to residents setting up the Save Our Village campaign to fight the proposals by Nigel Barrington-Fuller.
The plans were later revised to 136 houses, flats, almshouses, and a medical centre, but were refused by council planning officers on Friday.
Martyn Reed, from the Save Our Village group, said: “We are absolutely delighted to find out it has been refused.
“We have campaigned hard and got the result we were looking for."
