FOUR furry recruits are the latest additions to Essex Police.

Rhianna, Roscoe, Ronnie and Razor may look cute but they have a serious job to do as Essex Police dogs.

The German Shepherds passed a 13-week course and will be taking to the streets to sniff out criminals.

They have been taught to track, search and detain potential suspects.

The dogs were born at the unit in Sandon in May, 2013, as part of a litter of seven, the fourth litter since Essex Police began a breeding programme in 2010.

At around 15 months old the four began training.

Insp Brad Dickel said: “It is with great pride that I am able to announce the passing out of four new police dog recruits.

“Roscoe, Ronnie Razor and Rhianna have passed their recent basic course with flying colours and will now join the wider dog section team in providing specialist operational support to local policing.

“My thanks and appreciation goes to the course trainer and handlers all of whom have worked tirelessly to build a strong bond with the dogs ensuring they develop into their full potential.”

Their brothers and sisters are also being kept busy.

Ruby is likely to become a breeding bitch for Essex Police.

Roxy is a police dog with Greater Manchester Police, whose own dog sired the puppies, and Rizzo is making a family happy as a pet.
