A WAR veteran had her handbag stolen from a public toilet.
It was taken from the hook of a cubicle in Rosemary Road, Clacton, at midday on Monday.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "The black leather handbag contained £1,000 in cash and the victim’s RAF service card from WW2 which was of great sentimental value.
PC Chris Allwood said: "This crime has left the elderly victim very distressed.
"Not only has she lost a large sum of money but the RAF service card, which she’s had for 65 years, was hugely important to her.”
Anyone with information call PC Allwood at Clacton police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
